Calling Plan

More than ever, I am discovering that God has a “calling plan” for the 21st century church—and I am excited to be a part of that.
This notion became clear to me when it took a technological direction when I received one of those notices that always is bad news to a cell phone user.  “You have exceeded your calling plan minutes.”  That has happened only a couple of times before.  I didn’t think that I was that much of a talking head.
After talking (at no charge) to the cell phone sales rep, my wife and I decided to link our phones and go to an unlimited call plan.  Now we can chat on the phone as much as we want—which won’t happen, believe me.
I began to think about my calling plan as an Episcopal priest.  Over the years, my call to priestly ministry in the parish has become clearer.  So also has my sense of call to be with a parish and people for an extended conversation in Christ.
I am happy to be part of God’s unlimited calling plan.  In the coming years, I will continue to fulfill that call that began in the 20th century.  And then I am called to serve and worship God for all eternity.  That’s an unlimited calling plan I really do enjoy!
